I love cupcakes – plain and simple. My family is fortunate that none of us has food allergies, but I am aware of how many people (over 12 million in the U.S.) have severe food allergies. As many as 1 in every 200 Americans have a peanut or tree nut allergy, according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Severe allergic reactions can develop quickly and without warning. Also, more than 90% of food allergic reactions are caused by just 8 ingredients – peanuts, tree nuts, milk, egg, soy, shellfish, wheat and fish.
Thank goodness those people who are allergic have a tasty choice now – Divvies. I can only imagine how frustrating it would be (especially for kids), to watch others eating goodies, but not to be able to partake.
I was sent several items from Divvies (thank you!), and I am amazed at how tasty they all are…yes – each and every one of them. We received a box of chocolate cupcakes in a “fun” box. It contained a separate container of frosting and another tube of sprinkles. My daughter had a blast making these cupcakes, and she really enjoyed them (she had no idea they were “different” from other sweets). In addition to the cupcakes, we also received Bingo Chocolate Bars, two types of popcorn – kettle corn and caramel corn (these were so good!) and chewy candies. They have such a nice assortment of products – so really, nobody will feel left out.
The Divvies Story (from their website):
The Sandler family envisioned homemade fun-foods that the whole family, and their friends could enjoy. These foods would be made without peanuts, tree nuts, eggs or milk and despite all those left-out ingredients, these treats would be delicious. They would be so good, in fact, everyone (with or without food allergies) would ask to share them.
Now, Divvies fun-foods are available to share with families and friends across the country. Divvies cookies, popcorns, and cupcakes are made in the company’s-own dedicated facility where no peanuts, tree nuts, eggs or milk enter the doors. Divvies candies, frosting, and sprinkles are certified by their manufacturers to be peanut-, tree nut-, milk-, and egg-free and are packaged in Divvies Bakery. Divvies conducts routine testing to minimize the risk of any cross-contamination in their certified allergen-free ingredients.
Divvies is so grateful for the outreach and research being done by such fine organizations as the Food Allergy Initiative.
In support of their work, Divvies donates a portion of every gift box of cookies purchased to this group. They also place a card in each of these gifts acknowledging this donation in the name of the recipient. Divvies applauds every effort being made to find a cure for food allergies of all kinds.
I was thinking how perfect Divvies would be for classroom parties. If your child has food allergies, now there is no reason he or she cannot have a blast with these items. I know all of the kids would enjoy frosting and “sprinkling” their own cupcakes. Divvies carries a wonderful assortment of snacks for people with food allergies.
