My name is Jennifer, and I am the owner and author of The Speedy Gourmet. My love of cooking and baking started at a young age when I helped my mom in the kitchen just about every time she cooked. Everyone always loved coming to our home because as soon as the front door opened, the smell of a freshly baked goodie would greet them (along with mom’s sweet southern accent). Growing up baking with my mother, and then baking with my own children, is also what inspired me to create The Speedy Gourmet back in 2009.
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where the food choices are endless. I have many fond memories of going to San Francisco with my parents for my birthday dinners, and I always chose one of the Italian restaurants in the North Beach neighborhood. I LOVE good Italian food! To be fair, I love German food, Chinese food, Japanese food, Mexican food, Thai Food…just about everything. I rarely meet a dessert I don’t like either.
My husband and I relocated to Central Oregon after retirement, and although the food choices aren’t quite as plentiful as they are in the San Francisco Bay Area, it just means that I get to try and recreate some favorite dishes from my past, create new recipes, and also share some old family favorite recipes with you.
