My family and I frequently grill tri-tip. We love this cut because it is tender and incredibly flavorful naturally. I do, however, like to add a little more flavor with the “signature” quick Tri-Tip Roast marinade recipe that I created. It is a super easy beef marinade that only requires about 30 minutes of marinading time!
Quick Tri-Tip Roast Marinade recipe
Not only is this the perfect marinade for a tri-tip Roast, but if you tend to barbecue a lot on those warm summer nights, you might be happy to know that this also doubles as an easy steak marinade! Whether you like rib-eye steaks, filets, New York Strip Steaks, or T-bone steaks, this simple marinade for steaks will not disappoint!
It’s in the bag
When I say this is an easy recipe, I mean really easy! It can be made directly in a Ziploc bag, reducing the amount of dishes that need washing. Let’s face it, after eating a huge meal, who feels like washing dishes?
Just five ingredients
Yep – you heard that right. How can so much flavor come from so few ingredients?
Soy Sauce
Worcestershire Sauce
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Rosemary herbs
This is how we do it
In a Ziploc bag, combine equal parts Soy Sauce and Worcestershire Sauce (about 1/2 to 3/4 cup each). Coat tri-tip roast with liquids, then sprinkle approx. 1 tsp. each garlic powder and onion powder. Sprinkle on 1/2 tsp. of Rosemary (or Rosemary/herb blend).
Carefully poke the roast a few times with a sharp fork or knife and seal the Ziploc bag. If you plan on cooking the roast the same day, wait at least 30 minutes before grilling. Ideally try to wait a couple of hours if you can. Otherwise refrigerate the tri-tip while it is marinating overnight. Turn the bag over every few hours to make sure both sides soak in the yumminess.
You might want to serve our Easy Corn Casserole with the grilled Tri-Tip. It is the perfect make ahead side dish! For dessert, might I suggest these Campfire Rice Krispie Treat S’mores?
Grill the tri-tip using your preferred method. Enjoy!
